Birth Trauma Association announces Trusted Legal Partner panel

Today we are pleased to launch our Trusted Legal Partner panel.

Many parents who come to us for help ask for advice about taking legal action against the hospital trust or board where they gave birth. There are so many firms offering medical negligence services, however, that it’s not easy to know where to turn, and sometimes an encounter with a less reputable firm can leave parents feeling even more distressed. We find that most traumatised parents are looking for lawyers with expertise in obstetric negligence, who are sympathetic and understanding about the trauma they have been through and provide a high-quality, professional service.

So that we can feel confident that we are offering the best advice and information to the parents who come to us, we have created a panel of legal partners who we trust to provide a service that is compassionate, caring and of a high standard. As well as giving advice on the strength of a potential medical negligence case, these lawyers will be able to help with matters such as making a complaint to the hospital, asking for copies of birth records, gaining access to specialist services or providing advice on employment rights after traumatic birth.

Our six Trusted Legal Partners are:

Bolt Burdon Kemp

Hodge Jones & Allen

Hudgell Solicitors

Irwin Mitchell

Leigh Day

Russell-Cooke

Kim Thomas, CEO of the Birth Trauma Association, said: “Many parents who have been through birth trauma are looking for advice on complaints and legal action, but, with so many law firms out there, find it hard to know where to turn. We are delighted to welcome six trusted legal partners, knowing that from now on we will be able to direct parents to these firms, in full confidence that they will receive a compassionate, high-quality service.”
